Child Safety Standards

Last updated 11 September 2026

These are the standards of Offwatch Social Ltd (“OffWatch”) against child sexual abuse and exploitation, for the OffWatch mobile application.

1. Child sexual abuse and exploitation is prohibited

OffWatch prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) absolutely and without exception. This includes, and is not limited to:

  • child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, whether photographic, video, drawn, computer-generated or written;
  • the sexualisation of a minor, or content that presents a minor in a sexualised manner;
  • grooming, or any attempt to solicit, coerce, manipulate or arrange sexual contact with a minor;
  • sextortion, or threatening to distribute intimate material of a minor;
  • trafficking of a minor, or advertising or facilitating it;
  • seeking, offering, linking to or advertising any of the above.

This prohibition applies to profiles, photographs, messages, chosen interests, reports and every other part of OffWatch, and it applies whether the conduct is directed at a person using OffWatch or at anyone else.

2. OffWatch is for adults only

OffWatch is a private network for maritime and offshore crew and is restricted to people aged 18 and over. This is not only a statement of intent:

  • a date of birth indicating an age under 18 is rejected by our servers, not merely discouraged in the app;
  • members verify their identity through a third-party identity-verification provider before they can search for other members, send connection requests or start conversations;
  • OffWatch is in closed beta and is not publicly listed on app stores.

If we become aware that someone under 18 holds an OffWatch account, we remove that account.

3. How to report child sexual abuse or exploitation

Inside the app. Every member profile and every message can be reported from within OffWatch. A report reaches us directly and identifies exactly what was reported. You can also block any member at any time, which is immediate and does not require us to act first.

By email. Anyone — whether or not they use OffWatch — can report child safety concerns to support@off-watch.com. Please put “child safety” in the subject line; reports of this kind are treated as the highest priority.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Reporting to us is not a substitute for contacting the police.

You can also report directly to the authorities, independently of us:

  • United Kingdom — the Internet Watch Foundation, or CEOP at the National Crime Agency.
  • United States — the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline.
  • Elsewhere — your national law-enforcement or child-protection authority.

4. What we do when we receive a report

When we obtain actual knowledge of CSAE or CSAM on OffWatch, we act on it. Depending on what we find, that includes:

  • removing the content;
  • suspending or permanently banning the account, and taking steps to prevent the person returning;
  • preserving the relevant records where doing so may assist an investigation, rather than destroying them;
  • reporting to the appropriate authority — for confirmed CSAM this means NCMEC, and the relevant United Kingdom authority for Offwatch Social Ltd as a UK-registered company;
  • cooperating with law enforcement and responding to lawful requests.

We comply with applicable child-safety laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which OffWatch is available.

5. Child safety point of contact
